Narrative:

While cruising at FL370 en route from tpa to atl, we heard a loud bang followed by power decay on the left engine and a loss of oil pressure. We shut down the affected engine, notified ATC of our problem, checked the distanced to atl and determined that atl was our nearest suitable airport, even though we were closer to jax ann sav. Our decision was based on gliding distance, WX, runway length, emergency facs and familiarity with atl.
