Narrative:
I was PNF (pilot not flying). Descending into dtw via the kkiss arrival; approaching rkcty fix. Originally planned for ILS Y 4L transition; ATC changed runways to 3R. In the midst of reprogramming FMS to 3R transition and approach; ATC asked us to confirm we were descending via; we did and then realized we descended too low (14;000) and am going to miss the rkcty window of 17;000 - FL210. ATC then instructed us to maintain 14;000 until crossing rkcty then continue the arrival. We complied with the instruction and the flight continued and completed successfully without further incident.changing of planned runways/approaches combined with a brand new and unfamiliar STAR.
