Narrative:

In the evening, 9/90, I volunteered to replace the regularly scheduled captain on a flight from bos to lga. The other captain stated he was sick. I was riding as a passenger. The swap was accomplished 5-10 mins before departure, and in the rush to get the flight out on time, I forgot to get a new dispatch release from flight control. The flight left on schedule and arrived in my west/O incident. I flew the leg from bos to lga and it was not logged properly in the flight logbook. I am qualified in the aircraft and was well within FAA duty and flight time limits.
