Narrative:

On a missed approach from 27L in ord we were given a heading and a altitude of 5;000 feet. After the aircraft was cleaned up and passing through 3;500 feet closer to 4;000 feet we were given and altitude of maintain 4;000 feet the altitude was put in the window and verified by both pilots and with our high climb rate and close to the altitude we went through the 4;000 feet altitude by 300 feet. At the time we reached 4;000 feet myself the captain and the controller realize that we were going to go through the altitude and we were told to descend and maintain 4;000 feet. The flight was vectored around for 28C approach and landed.
