Narrative:
Approaching runway 22L for takeoff the tower controller asked us if we were ready. When we told him that we needed another minute for cockpit checks he became semi-irate, told us to taxi down 22L so he could allow the 1 other aircraft behind us to take off. It took over 2 mins for us to taxi down and clear the runway. Finally after 10-15 mins we were allowed to depart ord. (By all indications we were deliberately delayed.) 1 week previous to my incident I heard a pilot being chewed out by an ord tower controller because the pilot requested a delay for wake turbulence behind an aircraft that was not a heavy. At ord there are times that a controller will try and pressure a pilot into rushing. This must stop before an accident/incident happens. This petty behavior by ord tower is uncalled-for.

Title: FLT CREW COMPLAINT ABOUT ATCT LCL CTLR HANDLING AT ORD.
Narrative: APCHING RWY 22L FOR TKOF THE TWR CTLR ASKED US IF WE WERE READY. WHEN WE TOLD HIM THAT WE NEEDED ANOTHER MINUTE FOR COCKPIT CHKS HE BECAME SEMI-IRATE, TOLD US TO TAXI DOWN 22L SO HE COULD ALLOW THE 1 OTHER ACFT BEHIND US TO TAKE OFF. IT TOOK OVER 2 MINS FOR US TO TAXI DOWN AND CLR THE RWY. FINALLY AFTER 10-15 MINS WE WERE ALLOWED TO DEPART ORD. (BY ALL INDICATIONS WE WERE DELIBERATELY DELAYED.) 1 WK PREVIOUS TO MY INCIDENT I HEARD A PLT BEING CHEWED OUT BY AN ORD TWR CTLR BECAUSE THE PLT REQUESTED A DELAY FOR WAKE TURB BEHIND AN ACFT THAT WAS NOT A HVY. AT ORD THERE ARE TIMES THAT A CTLR WILL TRY AND PRESSURE A PLT INTO RUSHING. THIS MUST STOP BEFORE AN ACCIDENT/INCIDENT HAPPENS. THIS PETTY BEHAVIOR BY ORD TWR IS UNCALLED-FOR.
