Encountered severe turbulence during descent in sdf just west of bwg VOR at FL280 to FL260. Aircraft was at 290 knots (vb speed) after having been briefed by dispatcher prior to departure. Load master was in back and was not injured. Event duration was approximately 3-5 minutes in length. Reported to ATC. No visible issues with aircraft on post flight; but event was written up and [company] maintenance control was advised as well at mechanics on ground in sdf.
