Narrative:
En route to dwh I proceeded to due turns about a point at a nearby subdivision. I did approximately 5-6 turns with varying pitch, power and airspeed. The maneuver was performed at 1150' MSL. I maintained a safe gliding distance away from property or person should an engine failure occur. I maintained the 1150' MSL altitude until reaching the traffic pattern at dwh. I was advised after landing by the FBO that I rented the aircraft from that a low flying small aircraft had been seen circling the complainants house. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following: reporter stated he probably was over housing area on part of the turns. Also checked out the aircraft noise level from the ground. Reporter agreed it is a noisy little aircraft. Analyst counseled re: choice of locations for such maneuvers. Reporter admitted there was open space available.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: CONVENTIONAL GEAR ACFT DOES MANEUVERS CLOSE TO HOUSING AREA. OBSERVER COMPLAINS OF NOISE.
Narrative: ENRTE TO DWH I PROCEEDED TO DUE TURNS ABOUT A POINT AT A NEARBY SUBDIVISION. I DID APPROX 5-6 TURNS WITH VARYING PITCH, PWR AND AIRSPD. THE MANEUVER WAS PERFORMED AT 1150' MSL. I MAINTAINED A SAFE GLIDING DISTANCE AWAY FROM PROPERTY OR PERSON SHOULD AN ENG FAILURE OCCUR. I MAINTAINED THE 1150' MSL ALT UNTIL REACHING THE TFC PATTERN AT DWH. I WAS ADVISED AFTER LNDG BY THE FBO THAT I RENTED THE ACFT FROM THAT A LOW FLYING SMA HAD BEEN SEEN CIRCLING THE COMPLAINANTS HOUSE. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING: RPTR STATED HE PROBABLY WAS OVER HOUSING AREA ON PART OF THE TURNS. ALSO CHKED OUT THE ACFT NOISE LEVEL FROM THE GND. RPTR AGREED IT IS A NOISY LITTLE ACFT. ANALYST COUNSELED RE: CHOICE OF LOCATIONS FOR SUCH MANEUVERS. RPTR ADMITTED THERE WAS OPEN SPACE AVAILABLE.
