Narrative:
At hartsfield international airport, we landed on runway 8L. After clearing runway 8R, ground control cleared us to 'taxi to ramp', (ramp 2). We taxied onto the outer east taxiway until F3, and due to numerous aircraft exiting ramp 2 at F and F2, we transitioned to the inner F taxiway at F3. We made the turn southbound onto F3. No immediate traffic was evident on F, so we continued a slow taxi into the turn westbound on F. When we were approximately 30 degree into the turn westbound, the copilot suddenly pointed out (through the back of the captain's side window) a company medium large transport rapidly approaching from our left side, slightly behind us, westbound on F. We stopped. The medium large transport, taxiing very rapidly, passed close to our tail and left wingtip, while turning into ramp 3. We continued our taxi to ramp 2 west/O incident, though some passengers had noticed the medium large transport and asked if we had too. I believe this occurrence was caused by the excessive taxi speed of the medium large transport. Ground control could have advised us of another aircraft approaching the ramp area at the same time, but I do not believe the ground controller expected the medium large transport to arrive at ramp 3 that rapidly either. The solution to this type of problem is for all aircraft to taxi slowly, and with caution, in ramp areas. Most do.

Title: RAPIDLY TAXIING MLG CAME IN CLOSE PROX TO LGT. SO REPORTING, OBJECTS.
Narrative: AT HARTSFIELD INTL ARPT, WE LANDED ON RWY 8L. AFTER CLRING RWY 8R, GND CTL CLRED US TO 'TAXI TO RAMP', (RAMP 2). WE TAXIED ONTO THE OUTER E TXWY UNTIL F3, AND DUE TO NUMEROUS ACFT EXITING RAMP 2 AT F AND F2, WE TRANSITIONED TO THE INNER F TXWY AT F3. WE MADE THE TURN SBND ONTO F3. NO IMMEDIATE TFC WAS EVIDENT ON F, SO WE CONTINUED A SLOW TAXI INTO THE TURN WBND ON F. WHEN WE WERE APPROX 30 DEG INTO THE TURN WBND, THE COPLT SUDDENLY POINTED OUT (THROUGH THE BACK OF THE CAPT'S SIDE WINDOW) A COMPANY MLG RAPIDLY APCHING FROM OUR L SIDE, SLIGHTLY BEHIND US, WBND ON F. WE STOPPED. THE MLG, TAXIING VERY RAPIDLY, PASSED CLOSE TO OUR TAIL AND L WINGTIP, WHILE TURNING INTO RAMP 3. WE CONTINUED OUR TAXI TO RAMP 2 W/O INCIDENT, THOUGH SOME PAXS HAD NOTICED THE MLG AND ASKED IF WE HAD TOO. I BELIEVE THIS OCCURRENCE WAS CAUSED BY THE EXCESSIVE TAXI SPD OF THE MLG. GND CTL COULD HAVE ADVISED US OF ANOTHER ACFT APCHING THE RAMP AREA AT THE SAME TIME, BUT I DO NOT BELIEVE THE GND CTLR EXPECTED THE MLG TO ARRIVE AT RAMP 3 THAT RAPIDLY EITHER. THE SOLUTION TO THIS TYPE OF PROB IS FOR ALL ACFT TO TAXI SLOWLY, AND WITH CAUTION, IN RAMP AREAS. MOST DO.
