Aircraft was de-iced. On start; received smoke warning. Stopped push back. We informed maintenance; tower; complied with QRH (quick reference handbook) and informed the dispatcher. Opened door L1 to air out plane. Smoke warning was cleared and ca (captain) wrote up event in forms. [Company/base] maintenance signed off aircraft as safe and airworthy. We continued without further incident. Deice fluid near APU intake caused smoke warning.
