Narrative:

While walking through the cabin of aircraft X I noticed that the overwing exit rows had tray tables installed on the seat backs that would allow the tables to be lowered thus blocking egress to the overwing exits. I made entries in the [logbook]; notified my manager and the [manager on duty]; and told them I felt that this could have an immediate effect on the safety of flight. The next morning I returned to work and found that the items were signed off {closed out} by the supervisor per the eco (engineering change order). Apparently the eco; by design; allows seatback tray tables to be installed that will block egress to the overwing exits when in the lowered position. The eco needs to be reviewed and corrected.
