Narrative:

After shooting an NDB approach into mwk and off loading passenger, we got a clearance and took off to int. We shot the first ILS to runway 33 into and were high and left of course. We executed a missed and came back around to shoot another. We had some radio difficulties and were trying to make sense out of it all. We have a fairly new avionics refit. We had 2 or 3 altitude busts from 2500-3500' MSL. They were momentary and no conflict was noted. We executed another miss and came back around for another approach. This time the radios were set correctly and the pilot was ready and the copilot assisting. The approach was normal and a safe landing was accomplished. The causes are a long day with a tight approach at the end, non standard turn inside the OM, unfamiliar radios and autoplt, and the copilot was outside the communication loop. We're doing training to correct the deficiencies. The PF was totally at fault.
