Narrative:

On vectors; but not cleared to intercept the localizer 1L at iad; controller forgot about us; and overshot us about 3 mi east of the localizer course for runway 1R! He apologized; then cleared us to turn back left and intercept the localizer 1L for the visual approach. Controller was apparently distraction; and asked another aircraft where they were parking at manassas; and if they wanted runway 34L or runway 34R at manassas. Controller also forgot to switch us to tower; which we accomplished on our own at 800 ft AGL on short final. It seems that priorities may have gotten out of whack. But a B777 is a large; heavy aircraft; and losing awareness of its position at 3000 ft; shooting across 2 active runway locs before realizing he had forgotten us; is unsatisfactory.

Title: B777 LNDG IAD ALLEGES PCT CTLR FAILED TO TURN ACFT ON FINAL; PASSING 2 FINAL APCHS; BEFORE HAVING TO REMIND CTLR OF SAME.

Narrative: ON VECTORS; BUT NOT CLRED TO INTERCEPT THE LOC 1L AT IAD; CTLR FORGOT ABOUT US; AND OVERSHOT US ABOUT 3 MI E OF THE LOC COURSE FOR RWY 1R! HE APOLOGIZED; THEN CLRED US TO TURN BACK L AND INTERCEPT THE LOC 1L FOR THE VISUAL APCH. CTLR WAS APPARENTLY DISTR; AND ASKED ANOTHER ACFT WHERE THEY WERE PARKING AT MANASSAS; AND IF THEY WANTED RWY 34L OR RWY 34R AT MANASSAS. CTLR ALSO FORGOT TO SWITCH US TO TWR; WHICH WE ACCOMPLISHED ON OUR OWN AT 800 FT AGL ON SHORT FINAL. IT SEEMS THAT PRIORITIES MAY HAVE GOTTEN OUT OF WHACK. BUT A B777 IS A LARGE; HVY ACFT; AND LOSING AWARENESS OF ITS POS AT 3000 FT; SHOOTING ACROSS 2 ACTIVE RWY LOCS BEFORE REALIZING HE HAD FORGOTTEN US; IS UNSATISFACTORY.
