Narrative:
Slc tower cleared small aircraft for takeoff on 16L with a left turn to unknown heading. At the same time slc tower cleared us for takeoff on 16R. As we were rotating I saw that the small aircraft had made a right turn instead of a left turn. I pointed the traffic out to captain, who then made a 15-20 degree right bank and pulled the nose up to avoid a collision. The tower was notified. They did not see the occurrence. Company dispatch was notified and the proper documents filed.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: CLOSE PROX ACR-MLG GA-SMA TAKING OFF ON PARALLEL RWYS.
Narrative: SLC TWR CLRED SMA FOR TKOF ON 16L WITH A LEFT TURN TO UNKNOWN HDG. AT THE SAME TIME SLC TWR CLRED US FOR TKOF ON 16R. AS WE WERE ROTATING I SAW THAT THE SMA HAD MADE A RIGHT TURN INSTEAD OF A LEFT TURN. I POINTED THE TFC OUT TO CAPT, WHO THEN MADE A 15-20 DEG RIGHT BANK AND PULLED THE NOSE UP TO AVOID A COLLISION. THE TWR WAS NOTIFIED. THEY DID NOT SEE THE OCCURRENCE. COMPANY DISPATCH WAS NOTIFIED AND THE PROPER DOCUMENTS FILED.
