Narrative:
My student was turning left base-to-final runway 25 for ZZZ; making appropriate calls on the unicom; when I noticed an aircraft Y behind us turning in. We were closer and a lower altitude on final; and there's no way the other pilot couldn't see our plane. I took controls and we sidestepped the final approach course and watched the aircraft Y land. I did a 360 on final and landed once the runway and final approach path were clear.
