Narrative:
After takeoff from newark in medium large transport aircraft experienced engine overheat in #2 engine. Reduced power until overheat went out. Asked controller for return to newark. Performed return using single engine landing procedures and accomplished safe landing. Aircraft log showed same problem occurred previously and mechanics had done some work and signed off problem. It recurred.

Title: ENGINE OVERHEAT ON DEP CLIMB.
Narrative: AFTER TKOF FROM NEWARK IN MLG ACFT EXPERIENCED ENG OVERHEAT IN #2 ENG. REDUCED PWR UNTIL OVERHEAT WENT OUT. ASKED CTLR FOR RETURN TO NEWARK. PERFORMED RETURN USING SINGLE ENG LNDG PROCS AND ACCOMPLISHED SAFE LNDG. ACFT LOG SHOWED SAME PROB OCCURRED PREVIOUSLY AND MECHS HAD DONE SOME WORK AND SIGNED OFF PROB. IT RECURRED.
