Narrative:
After the doors were closed; I am just prior to engine start at the gate. The gate agent trying to get my attention by knocking on the rear captain's side window. He knocked no more than three times and the window shattered. I believe he did nothing wrong as many gate agents do this when they try to get your attention obviously was a defect in the window.
