Narrative:

Pilot departed gastonia. At 1500' MSL, pilot contacted clt on 125.35. Pilot was already in clt TCA (gastonia is in TCA). Clt responded and asked for altitude and destination pilot responded with 2000' gso. That's the last communication pilot received from clt. Pilot continued at 2000' still in TCA until out of TCA and then began to climb to 3500'. Pilot reached gso they informed pilot he had violated clt TCA. The pilot was sure he had not heard from clt. It may have been a problem with the radios. The radios seemed to work fine. If clt called pilot and the pilot missed the call it was not intentional.
