Narrative:

It is a real pleasure to write you about a situation in which the point of interest is in what was right, not wrong. I was VFR (no fp) at 10,5 northbound cavu and just handed to abq center on 132.8 (clines corner sector), reported, then as radio traffic gave a break called 'out of 10.5 for 12.5.' reception at the altitude is not the best. Center said 'aircraft calling out of .5 something say again.' I repeated. He said 'stop climb, traffic 3 O'clock westbound climbing to 12.5.' I complied. Neither I nor my traffic saw each other. No further conflict occurred. I was later 'cleared' to 12.5 west/O incident. This is a good example of the value of being in touch with center even when VFR cavu. Probably nothing would have occurred but how nice not to find out by experience. The controller should be commended for his prompt attention in spite of his not receiveing me loud and clear. We all criticize controllers when we perceive them in error. We should give them an 'atta boy' whenever we perceive them as being as sharp as that chap was. 'Atta boy'.

Title: PLT OF SMA VFR. NO FLT PLAN. CONTACTED CENTER AND WAS ADVISED STOP CLIMB ACCOUNT OF CLIMBING TRAFFIC.

Narrative: IT IS A REAL PLEASURE TO WRITE YOU ABOUT A SITUATION IN WHICH THE POINT OF INTEREST IS IN WHAT WAS RIGHT, NOT WRONG. I WAS VFR (NO FP) AT 10,5 NBND CAVU AND JUST HANDED TO ABQ CTR ON 132.8 (CLINES CORNER SECTOR), RPTED, THEN AS RADIO TFC GAVE A BREAK CALLED 'OUT OF 10.5 FOR 12.5.' RECEPTION AT THE ALT IS NOT THE BEST. CTR SAID 'ACFT CALLING OUT OF .5 SOMETHING SAY AGAIN.' I REPEATED. HE SAID 'STOP CLB, TFC 3 O'CLOCK WBND CLBING TO 12.5.' I COMPLIED. NEITHER I NOR MY TFC SAW EACH OTHER. NO FURTHER CONFLICT OCCURRED. I WAS LATER 'CLRED' TO 12.5 W/O INCIDENT. THIS IS A GOOD EXAMPLE OF THE VALUE OF BEING IN TOUCH WITH CTR EVEN WHEN VFR CAVU. PROBABLY NOTHING WOULD HAVE OCCURRED BUT HOW NICE NOT TO FIND OUT BY EXPERIENCE. THE CTLR SHOULD BE COMMENDED FOR HIS PROMPT ATTN IN SPITE OF HIS NOT RECEIVEING ME LOUD AND CLR. WE ALL CRITICIZE CTLRS WHEN WE PERCEIVE THEM IN ERROR. WE SHOULD GIVE THEM AN 'ATTA BOY' WHENEVER WE PERCEIVE THEM AS BEING AS SHARP AS THAT CHAP WAS. 'ATTA BOY'.
