Narrative:

I am currently a radar sector trainee training on sectors. Aircraft X departed runway heading of 340 degrees. We do have approval for vectors below the mia (minimum IFR altitude) at 800 feet on that side of the airport. I was thinking about the sequence into the airport with him and another aircraft behind him. I cleared him direct to a VOR 200 feet below the mia. I realized what I had done after and learned from my mistake. I recommend as a trainee slowing down just a little to think through every possible situation before I issue clearances.
