Narrative:
When I was loading it wouldn't let me lock it out because the battery was showing up as hazmat when it wasn't; so [load planning] directed me to move it. When we brought the plane back in the pilot refused it all together. The indicator on the scanner is so minuscule I didn't see it. The hazmat notification did not pop up on the scanner too. Pilot requested paperwork for hazmat. There was only one bag tag for both pieces. There was no hazmat sticker on the box which is why I was confused; since it was not considered a hazmat but the computer recognized it as a dangerous good.
