Narrative:
Dangerous goods manifest did not require air conditioning on even though we had 16.83 kilograms of dry ice in the aft cargo compartment. The flight [operations] manual only requires we position the selector to on if the dg manifest has an alert requiring it. The fom requires the lower cargo air conditioning to be on any time dry ice is loaded and 'a statement will print on the dg manifest as a reminder'. The reminder did not print. The only reason we didn't make a mistake was because I called the dispatcher who informed me we did have dry ice and the air conditioning needed to be on.cause: auto dg system did not print reminder for lower cargo air conditioning to be turned on due to dry ice in lower aft cargo compartment.suggestions: fix the auto dg system to print the reminder.
