Narrative:
Shortly after takeoff from ZZZ to ZZZ1; I began to smell an odor. I went back and forth in my mind whether or not it was a familiar smell; and after about a minute and a half; I decided to peek down the aisle towards the back galley. I noticed the number 4 flight attendant had something in her hand and we met eyes and we motioned to each other; so I made my way to the back. Once I reached the back of the aircraft; I noticed the number 2 [flight attendant] sitting on the floor with a portable oxygen bottle on and she was on the inter phone with the captain. The number 4 [flight attendant] and I were talking briefly and learned that we all smelled something unfamiliar. Once the number 2 [flight attendant] got off the inter phone with the captain; she informed myself and the 4 [flight attendant] that she has previously been in 3 fume/odor events so she told us that we needed to get on oxygen to purify our bodies of whatever chemicals we may be inhaling. Therefore; I quickly made my way back up to the forward galley to access a pob [portable oxygen bottle]. On my way towards the forward galley; I noticed that none of the passengers seemed rattled or mentioned feeling ill. However; I was slightly lightheaded. When I reached the forward galley; the odor had dissipated; and I accessed the pob. After donning the pob and inhaling a few deep breaths; my head was level again. I then proceeded back to the aft galley to check on the 2 [flight attendant] and 4 [flight attendant] and the 2 [flight attendant] was in contact with the captain again. She kept him informed with what we had experienced. By this time; my head was no longer light; but I felt some itching in my throat; however; it did not last long. The number 2 [flight attendant] was more familiar with the event since she had been through it before; so she did an awesome job of keeping the captain informed. The fumes/odor lasted about 5 minutes or so; and since we took proper precautions and felt okay; we did complete beverage service and no passengers mentioned the odor or fell ill. When we landed in ZZZ1; no crew members needed medical attention and maintenance personnel did meet the flight to speak with the pilot and first officer. I must mention that on our previous flight (from ZZZ1 to ZZZ); we were delayed for 2 hours due to a maintenance issue. I'm not 100% positive about what the mechanical was; but I do recall hearing the word 'generator' mentioned. I believe this mechanical may have had something to do with the fume/odor event we experienced.
