Narrative:
Flight just departed runway 36R to act when at approximately 1500' MSL, the pod smoke cap illuminated. My first officer told regional approach of the problem and that we needed to return to the airport. ATC vectored us around for the approach originally to ILS 35R at dfw. During being vectored for the approach, I made a quick PA to the passenger while my first officer talk to ATC and tried to talk to company dispatch to let them know of the problem. During the time of my PA to the passenger ATC switched runway from 35R to 36L. Right after my PA a female passenger came up to the front and distraction my first officer by telling him that she rather go to aus instead of act. During this distraction ATC gave us a vector to intercept the localizer that we missed. As ATC repeated the instructions we went through the localizer. During the turn back to the localizer we lost approximately 300' below our assigned altitude. We established ourselves on the localizer and shot the approach and landed west/O incident. Landing the pod smoke cap extinguished itself. After landing the fire equipment met us and looked us over. They said there was no sign of a fire or smoke. We taxied into the ramp.

Title: LTT DEPARTING DFW HAD SMOKE POD CAP ILLUMINATE. FLT CREW WAS VECTORED BACK TO DFW FOR LNDG.
Narrative: FLT JUST DEPARTED RWY 36R TO ACT WHEN AT APPROX 1500' MSL, THE POD SMOKE CAP ILLUMINATED. MY F/O TOLD REGIONAL APCH OF THE PROB AND THAT WE NEEDED TO RETURN TO THE ARPT. ATC VECTORED US AROUND FOR THE APCH ORIGINALLY TO ILS 35R AT DFW. DURING BEING VECTORED FOR THE APCH, I MADE A QUICK PA TO THE PAX WHILE MY F/O TALK TO ATC AND TRIED TO TALK TO COMPANY DISPATCH TO LET THEM KNOW OF THE PROB. DURING THE TIME OF MY PA TO THE PAX ATC SWITCHED RWY FROM 35R TO 36L. R AFTER MY PA A FEMALE PAX CAME UP TO THE FRONT AND DISTR MY F/O BY TELLING HIM THAT SHE RATHER GO TO AUS INSTEAD OF ACT. DURING THIS DISTR ATC GAVE US A VECTOR TO INTERCEPT THE LOC THAT WE MISSED. AS ATC REPEATED THE INSTRUCTIONS WE WENT THROUGH THE LOC. AFTER LNDG THE FIRE EQUIP MET US AND LOOKED US OVER. THEY SAID THERE WAS NO SIGN OF A FIRE OR SMOKE. WE TAXIED INTO THE RAMP.
