Narrative:
I was departing runway 12R; and while I was aware the runway is a right pattern; I was fairly certain that tower told me to continue on course. After I took off; at about 800 ft.; I began my turn to the northwest to my destination. There was another plane departing runway 12L [that] passed very close underneath me on the left side of my plane. At about the same time I saw the other plane; the tower controller asked if I could see the traffic. I told him I could; and that it should be no factor. There was no contact; and I continued to my destination without further incident.
