Narrative:
Tech replaced bleed valve per amm; ops leak check good. Same part number was installed as removed. During final check paperwork close out; tech was having difficulty completing parts transaction in the computer system. At this time I was approached for assistance. After discussion of the part used; technician who completed task and review of pratt and whitney ipc it was decided the part was effective and the computer had incorrectly flagged as not effective and transaction was completed. Part was in fact not effective and parts computer transaction was completed in error.closer attention to the sometimes confusing ipc's; show greater caution when computer flags a transaction. Less reliance on part number off as supporting part number on. Closer attention to published procedures. Amt verifying parts to ipc; prior to installation.
