Narrative:
At ft lauderdale executive airport, after flying at night time from lantana airport, where the airplane is based at, and where I, at the time, was working as a flight instrument. We proceeded to xx air service, where a lineman called it to our attention that our lights (both navigation and rotating beacon) were intermittent. As I felt responsible for the airplane on the ground, I tried to get maintenance personnel to go take a look and fix the airplane, but as it was too late, no one was available at that late hour at night, after which PIC decided to go back to lantana. After listening to ATIS, we contacted ground control which did not tell us anything about our lights being out. After a runup, in the runup area, just short of taxiway alpha, we contacted the tower and the tower told us that we had no lights, beacon or navigation. We told the controller that we were aware and that they were intermittent and we were going to proceed to lantana and report the event to maintenance so that it could be fixed. As we rolled on runway 13 the lights came on and the intermittent problem went on during our trip to lantana airport. As flight instrument that I am, I was not PIC that night and subsequently I did not intentionally violate any federal aviation regulation.

Title: INSTR AND PLT INFORMED OF INTERMITTENT NAVIGATION LIGHTS AND BEACON. UNABLE TO GET REPAIRS, DECIDE TO RETURN TO HOME BASE.
Narrative: AT FT LAUDERDALE EXECUTIVE ARPT, AFTER FLYING AT NIGHT TIME FROM LANTANA ARPT, WHERE THE AIRPLANE IS BASED AT, AND WHERE I, AT THE TIME, WAS WORKING AS A FLT INSTR. WE PROCEEDED TO XX AIR SVC, WHERE A LINEMAN CALLED IT TO OUR ATTN THAT OUR LIGHTS (BOTH NAV AND ROTATING BEACON) WERE INTERMITTENT. AS I FELT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE AIRPLANE ON THE GND, I TRIED TO GET MAINT PERSONNEL TO GO TAKE A LOOK AND FIX THE AIRPLANE, BUT AS IT WAS TOO LATE, NO ONE WAS AVAILABLE AT THAT LATE HOUR AT NIGHT, AFTER WHICH PIC DECIDED TO GO BACK TO LANTANA. AFTER LISTENING TO ATIS, WE CONTACTED GND CTL WHICH DID NOT TELL US ANYTHING ABOUT OUR LIGHTS BEING OUT. AFTER A RUNUP, IN THE RUNUP AREA, JUST SHORT OF TXWY ALPHA, WE CONTACTED THE TWR AND THE TWR TOLD US THAT WE HAD NO LIGHTS, BEACON OR NAV. WE TOLD THE CTLR THAT WE WERE AWARE AND THAT THEY WERE INTERMITTENT AND WE WERE GOING TO PROCEED TO LANTANA AND RPT THE EVENT TO MAINT SO THAT IT COULD BE FIXED. AS WE ROLLED ON RWY 13 THE LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE INTERMITTENT PROB WENT ON DURING OUR TRIP TO LANTANA ARPT. AS FLT INSTR THAT I AM, I WAS NOT PIC THAT NIGHT AND SUBSEQUENTLY I DID NOT INTENTIONALLY VIOLATE ANY FEDERAL AVIATION REG.
