Narrative:

Filed IFR as lifeguard. Mia landing 9L and 12. Wind 140-170 degrees, 17 KTS with gusts. Requested runway 12 to attempt smooth landing due to patient's condition and medical equipment in use. Request was approved. Final controller vectored me for base to 12 and cleared me for visibility. I was cleared to land by the tower. While on final I noted an aircraft taxiing across 12 midway the runway. At my ground speed, aircraft cleared runway before I touched down. After rollout, tower asked if I had been assigned runway 12, in a tone intimating perhaps he didn't expect me there. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following: reporter states he had no time to get back to tower as he had patient aboard in serious condition. He was sure the taxiing aircraft could clear the runway. Just seemed strange that there should have been a question since he had been vectored to the final for 12 by approach.

Title: AIR AMBULANCE ACFT QUESTIONED BY TWR REGARDING RWY ASSIGNMENT AFTER BEING VECTORED TO FINAL BY APCH.

Narrative: FILED IFR AS LIFEGUARD. MIA LNDG 9L AND 12. WIND 140-170 DEGS, 17 KTS WITH GUSTS. REQUESTED RWY 12 TO ATTEMPT SMOOTH LNDG DUE TO PATIENT'S CONDITION AND MEDICAL EQUIP IN USE. REQUEST WAS APPROVED. FINAL CTLR VECTORED ME FOR BASE TO 12 AND CLRED ME FOR VIS. I WAS CLRED TO LAND BY THE TWR. WHILE ON FINAL I NOTED AN ACFT TAXIING ACROSS 12 MIDWAY THE RWY. AT MY GND SPD, ACFT CLRED RWY BEFORE I TOUCHED DOWN. AFTER ROLLOUT, TWR ASKED IF I HAD BEEN ASSIGNED RWY 12, IN A TONE INTIMATING PERHAPS HE DIDN'T EXPECT ME THERE. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING: RPTR STATES HE HAD NO TIME TO GET BACK TO TWR AS HE HAD PATIENT ABOARD IN SERIOUS CONDITION. HE WAS SURE THE TAXIING ACFT COULD CLEAR THE RWY. JUST SEEMED STRANGE THAT THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A QUESTION SINCE HE HAD BEEN VECTORED TO THE FINAL FOR 12 BY APCH.
