Narrative:

We received a clearance from ATC to ZZZ for an empty reposition that included the point 'homee'. When ATC read the clearance the point sounded like 'honee' which is also a valid waypoint and was read back to ATC who stated 'read back correct'. The point was programmed into the FMS and we departed. I was pilot monitoring and my first officer was pilot flying. TRACON told us to proceed direct to what sounded like 'honee' so we did and turned left to follow the course. ATC inquired why we were turning left and that we should be turning right to 'honee'. I told him were turning left to go to 'honee' and I asked him to spell it and he spelled 'homee' I saw the problem and asked for an amended clearance for the left turn and he gave us a left turn to 140 degrees. While troubleshooting I noticed that we had drifted almost 200 ft. High from our assigned altitude of 2;000 ft. I took immediate action to correct the altitude and once recovered I corrected the FMS and we were re-cleared direct 'homee' and then we continued the flight without incident.
