Narrative:
Flight was on an IFR flight plan from bos to hfd. Flight was cleared by center for visibility to runway 2 at hfd. Crew was using commercial en route and area chart for navigation. Aircraft entered pattern on right base, idented runway and turned final. Tower at hfd queried our flight to confirm alignment for proper airport. We were confident we were properly aligned since the lda needle was centered. A jct at hfd noted that we seemed very high at the same time we noted that the runway ahead seemed longer than 4400'. We came to realize that we were aligned for the runway at eht, 1 mi northeast of brainard. Misident of airport was in part the result of: eht, the larger of the 2 airports, does not appear on the en route chart. The proximity and alignment of the runways at the 2 airports, the hfd lda facility offers a valid on course indication on final for both airport. Small river tributaries around both airports confuse orientation around both airports. To reduce chance of similar situations, eht should be included on en route chart. Also include an alignment caution on ldg runway 2 approach chart referring to possibility of runway misident. Our flight recircled the airport and landed west/O incident.

Title: CPR FLT CREW ON VISUAL APCH TO RWY 02 AT HFD MISTAKES EHT FOR HFD.
Narrative: FLT WAS ON AN IFR FLT PLAN FROM BOS TO HFD. FLT WAS CLRED BY CENTER FOR VIS TO RWY 2 AT HFD. CREW WAS USING COMMERCIAL ENRTE AND AREA CHART FOR NAV. ACFT ENTERED PATTERN ON RIGHT BASE, IDENTED RWY AND TURNED FINAL. TWR AT HFD QUERIED OUR FLT TO CONFIRM ALIGNMENT FOR PROPER ARPT. WE WERE CONFIDENT WE WERE PROPERLY ALIGNED SINCE THE LDA NEEDLE WAS CENTERED. A JCT AT HFD NOTED THAT WE SEEMED VERY HIGH AT THE SAME TIME WE NOTED THAT THE RWY AHEAD SEEMED LONGER THAN 4400'. WE CAME TO REALIZE THAT WE WERE ALIGNED FOR THE RWY AT EHT, 1 MI NE OF BRAINARD. MISIDENT OF ARPT WAS IN PART THE RESULT OF: EHT, THE LARGER OF THE 2 ARPTS, DOES NOT APPEAR ON THE ENRTE CHART. THE PROX AND ALIGNMENT OF THE RWYS AT THE 2 ARPTS, THE HFD LDA FAC OFFERS A VALID ON COURSE INDICATION ON FINAL FOR BOTH ARPT. SMALL RIVER TRIBUTARIES AROUND BOTH ARPTS CONFUSE ORIENTATION AROUND BOTH ARPTS. TO REDUCE CHANCE OF SIMILAR SITUATIONS, EHT SHOULD BE INCLUDED ON ENRTE CHART. ALSO INCLUDE AN ALIGNMENT CAUTION ON LDG RWY 2 APCH CHART REFERRING TO POSSIBILITY OF RWY MISIDENT. OUR FLT RECIRCLED THE ARPT AND LANDED W/O INCIDENT.
