Narrative:
While hood training, my INS flight instrument wanted to go to lakefront for a touch and go landing. Approach control was contacted and they assigned a transponder code. Tower contact was made and position confirmed. On short final tower still had not cleared me to land, so I asked tower if I was clear to land. He confirmed that I was. Apparently the tower controller was unaware the landing was to be a touch and go. Approach control was informed the landing was touch and go. My flight instrument did not seem upset, and advised me to apologize to this tower controller when the tower controller finally finished chewing me out. 1) no other traffic was involved. 2) I do not believe safety was compromised, unless too much time was spent on the chew out.

Title: GA SMA ON A TRAINING FLT FAILED TO ADVISE NEW TWR THAT THEY WANTED TO MAKE A TOUCH AND GO LNDG. THEY HAD ADVISED THE APCH CTLR OF THEIR INTENTION.
Narrative: WHILE HOOD TRNING, MY INS FLT INSTR WANTED TO GO TO LAKEFRONT FOR A TOUCH AND GO LNDG. APCH CTL WAS CONTACTED AND THEY ASSIGNED A XPONDER CODE. TWR CONTACT WAS MADE AND POS CONFIRMED. ON SHORT FINAL TWR STILL HAD NOT CLRED ME TO LAND, SO I ASKED TWR IF I WAS CLR TO LAND. HE CONFIRMED THAT I WAS. APPARENTLY THE TWR CTLR WAS UNAWARE THE LNDG WAS TO BE A TOUCH AND GO. APCH CTL WAS INFORMED THE LNDG WAS TOUCH AND GO. MY FLT INSTR DID NOT SEEM UPSET, AND ADVISED ME TO APOLOGIZE TO THIS TWR CTLR WHEN THE TWR CTLR FINALLY FINISHED CHEWING ME OUT. 1) NO OTHER TFC WAS INVOLVED. 2) I DO NOT BELIEVE SAFETY WAS COMPROMISED, UNLESS TOO MUCH TIME WAS SPENT ON THE CHEW OUT.
