Narrative:
Was northbound on V71 with IFR clearance at 6000'. After conflict was verified, I realized an small aircraft Y was converging on us on an IFR clearance at 5000'. He apparently was converging from behind at approximately the 8 O'clock position, low not moving in my windscreen, with strobes flashing. I analyzed it's movements for I estimate 4-5 seconds. Didn't see any navigation lights or any other movement except for it appeared to get brighter and closer. I determined the aircraft was climbing towards me. I then made a hard right turn staying at 6000' for approximately 3 seconds, snapped level, saw him to be in the approximately same spot in windscreen and pulled power and did a diving right turn to 5000'. During the first level turn, I informed our action to center. No response. So, after second maneuver, called center again to ask about traffic and tell again what we did. He responded and said it was IFR traffic at 5000'. I feel if the controller would have told me of traffic (IFR) coming from behind and location this would have not caused a conflict, as I would have been aware.

Title: CLOSE PROX TWO GA SMA ACFT ON V71.
Narrative: WAS NBND ON V71 WITH IFR CLRNC AT 6000'. AFTER CONFLICT WAS VERIFIED, I REALIZED AN SMA Y WAS CONVERGING ON US ON AN IFR CLRNC AT 5000'. HE APPARENTLY WAS CONVERGING FROM BEHIND AT APPROX THE 8 O'CLOCK POS, LOW NOT MOVING IN MY WINDSCREEN, WITH STROBES FLASHING. I ANALYZED IT'S MOVEMENTS FOR I ESTIMATE 4-5 SECS. DIDN'T SEE ANY NAV LIGHTS OR ANY OTHER MOVEMENT EXCEPT FOR IT APPEARED TO GET BRIGHTER AND CLOSER. I DETERMINED THE ACFT WAS CLBING TOWARDS ME. I THEN MADE A HARD R TURN STAYING AT 6000' FOR APPROX 3 SECS, SNAPPED LEVEL, SAW HIM TO BE IN THE APPROX SAME SPOT IN WINDSCREEN AND PULLED PWR AND DID A DIVING R TURN TO 5000'. DURING THE FIRST LEVEL TURN, I INFORMED OUR ACTION TO CTR. NO RESPONSE. SO, AFTER SEC MANEUVER, CALLED CTR AGAIN TO ASK ABOUT TFC AND TELL AGAIN WHAT WE DID. HE RESPONDED AND SAID IT WAS IFR TFC AT 5000'. I FEEL IF THE CTLR WOULD HAVE TOLD ME OF TFC (IFR) COMING FROM BEHIND AND LOCATION THIS WOULD HAVE NOT CAUSED A CONFLICT, AS I WOULD HAVE BEEN AWARE.
