Narrative:
During the course of an ILS approach to syr at night with ATIS reporting occasional severe turbulence and winds 180 degree at 12 gusting to 20 KTS, the captain briefed the approach to runway 10. Approach control reported a wind shift and that they were now using runway 28. We then briefed the ILS to runway 28 in the descent after which we were notified of another wind shift with the winds out of the south at 20 KTS, since we were now 15 mi west of the field we elected for the ILS to runway 10. After a normal approach and landing on runway 10, tower notified us during rollout to turn on taxiway M and take the parallel taxiway to the ramp. Taxiway M xed runway 10/28 at the east end and we only saw the sign for taxiway M on the right side. We made two right turns onto M and onto taxiway H; then realized we were on the south side of the field and that the terminal was on the north side. The captain then made a right turn on taxiway J and in the process the right main gear cut through the adjacent grass just off the tarmac. No aircraft damage resulted and there were no injuries. However, the commercial airport diagram does not show than taxiway J is too narrow for large jets and the company airport diagram does not show all of taxiway M. Tower controllers could also have helped by stating, 'air carrier X left turn at the end contact ground.'

Title: ACR MADE WRONG TURN OFF RWY ONTO A NARROW TXWY AND RIGHT MAIN GEAR WENT OFF TXWY.
Narrative: DURING THE COURSE OF AN ILS APCH TO SYR AT NIGHT WITH ATIS RPTING OCCASIONAL SEVERE TURB AND WINDS 180 DEG AT 12 GUSTING TO 20 KTS, THE CAPT BRIEFED THE APCH TO RWY 10. APCH CTL RPTED A WIND SHIFT AND THAT THEY WERE NOW USING RWY 28. WE THEN BRIEFED THE ILS TO RWY 28 IN THE DSNT AFTER WHICH WE WERE NOTIFIED OF ANOTHER WIND SHIFT WITH THE WINDS OUT OF THE S AT 20 KTS, SINCE WE WERE NOW 15 MI W OF THE FIELD WE ELECTED FOR THE ILS TO RWY 10. AFTER A NORMAL APCH AND LNDG ON RWY 10, TWR NOTIFIED US DURING ROLLOUT TO TURN ON TXWY M AND TAKE THE PARALLEL TXWY TO THE RAMP. TXWY M XED RWY 10/28 AT THE E END AND WE ONLY SAW THE SIGN FOR TXWY M ON THE R SIDE. WE MADE TWO R TURNS ONTO M AND ONTO TXWY H; THEN REALIZED WE WERE ON THE S SIDE OF THE FIELD AND THAT THE TERMINAL WAS ON THE N SIDE. THE CAPT THEN MADE A R TURN ON TXWY J AND IN THE PROCESS THE R MAIN GEAR CUT THROUGH THE ADJACENT GRASS JUST OFF THE TARMAC. NO ACFT DAMAGE RESULTED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. HOWEVER, THE COMMERCIAL ARPT DIAGRAM DOES NOT SHOW THAN TXWY J IS TOO NARROW FOR LARGE JETS AND THE COMPANY ARPT DIAGRAM DOES NOT SHOW ALL OF TXWY M. TWR CTLRS COULD ALSO HAVE HELPED BY STATING, 'ACR X L TURN AT THE END CONTACT GND.'
