Narrative:
Air carrier X en route from pit to florida area at interim altitude FL280. Air carrier X reported mod turbulence and requested higher altitude. I told him he had traffic at FL290, and I was busy, he could expect higher in 40 mi maybe longer. Air carrier X made repeated requests for higher and I told him I was unable. 10 mins after I switched his frequency he came back up on my frequency and advised me he had experienced severe turbulence in my airspace. Between the time I originally switched him and he came back on my frequency, I had a sudden rash of reports, by numerous jet aircraft, of moderate to severe turbulence FL260-FL280 20 mi east of beckley, wv.

Title: ACR X INFLT INCOUNTER SEVERE TURBULANCE.
Narrative: ACR X ENRTE FROM PIT TO FLORIDA AREA AT INTERIM ALT FL280. ACR X RPTED MOD TURB AND REQUESTED HIGHER ALT. I TOLD HIM HE HAD TFC AT FL290, AND I WAS BUSY, HE COULD EXPECT HIGHER IN 40 MI MAYBE LONGER. ACR X MADE REPEATED REQUESTS FOR HIGHER AND I TOLD HIM I WAS UNABLE. 10 MINS AFTER I SWITCHED HIS FREQ HE CAME BACK UP ON MY FREQ AND ADVISED ME HE HAD EXPERIENCED SEVERE TURB IN MY AIRSPACE. BTWN THE TIME I ORIGINALLY SWITCHED HIM AND HE CAME BACK ON MY FREQ, I HAD A SUDDEN RASH OF RPTS, BY NUMEROUS JET ACFT, OF MODERATE TO SEVERE TURB FL260-FL280 20 MI E OF BECKLEY, WV.
