Narrative:
At 400' the copilot saw a bird pass under the nose and immediately a left engine vibration. The copilot was flying and continued while I reduced power to idle. I advised departure we were declaring an emergency. We were then cleared for a visibility to 4R at ewr. We continued the approach and landed with no further problems.
