Narrative:

Recently my company has decided to save money by keeping low altitude charts on aircraft and not issue to individual pilot. Ha chart L21/22 in lap, but couldn't find the chart for immediately south of 21/22 in packet. Our clearance was after day to navigation V98 to mizar intersection. Day is just below the L21/22 coverage, but could see the arwys spoking north from bottom of chart (day). Due to confusion with charts, tracked outbnd on V278 instead of V98 (006 degrees vs 359 degrees). ZID informed us we were 4 mi east of V98 when about 25 DME north of day. Discovered our mistake and reintercepted proper arwy.
