Narrative:
Helicopter requested autorotation to runway xx; helicopter was cleared to land [runway] xx. I was cleared to land runway xx after helicopter. I was already uneasy about the landing after hearing that the helicopter was going to do an autorotation to the runway and I was on a 5 mile [final] at that time. I was worried that the helicopter would still be on the runway as I approached.I was given a traffic advisory for helicopter in left downwind for [runway] xx. I didn't see them initially and responded to tower 'looking for traffic.'controller asked helicopter to extend downwind but I didn't hear a cancel landing clearance command. I do not remember the helicopter pilot's response. I visualized helicopter turning base to final within 500 ft. Of my position which was one mile from the runway X. Helicopter then started turning right; back towards downwind and converging directly at me. I took evasive action and deviated right. I announced my intentions go around and to turn right. I initially started to initiate a right turn but realized that would take me over runway xy. I knew there was another airplane; landing on runway xy so I straightened out on a 100 heading until clear of the helicopter. I received another clearance to land runway xx and responded that I was going around on runway heading. I maneuvered back over the runway to complete the go around and received instructions for a left pattern. I executed the pattern and landed. The helicopter pilot approached me on the ramp and apologized for the incident. I called the ATC supervisor on duty and asked if I should file an incident report. He asked the tower controller about the incident and stated that it seemed like the helicopter pilot didn't follow instructions. He said it was up to me whether or not to file a formal incident report. I said that at would like to file a report and he took my name and phone number and said he would call me back. I did not receive a phone call so I'm filing this report instead.the safety concerns I am worried about:helicopter pilot not following the controller instructions.controller clearing two aircraft to land on the same runway without acknowledgement from either pilot that visual contact with each other has occurred.controller clearing the autorotation landing on runway xx without securing safe sequence distance for other landing aircraft.controller not cancelling landing clearance of the helicopter with the new instructions to extend the downwind leg of the patterni did not have a good way out in this scenario given a converging aircraft required an evasive maneuver to the right for me which would place me on a heading to cross runway xy at a low altitude.
