Narrative:
Landed on runway. Unable to get enough rudder control response to keep aircraft rolling on runway. Aircraft departed runway. Aircraft came to stop after striking a log off runway.I was suspicious of the rudder effectiveness. I should have postponed the flight until further evaluation could be made by an aircraft mechanic.
