Narrative:
From the ramp on the west side of the airport, we called ground control for taxi clearance. We were cleared to 'taxi to runway 19.' no other instructions were issued by ground control. En route to runway 19, we transitted the area depicted at right. After making the 90 degree left turn I realized that we had xed a hold line for runway 19 (intersection). Since the approach end of 19, where we would start takeoff, was some distance away, I was concentrating my attention on the cockpit preparations for takeoff as I taxied along the route to runway 19 approach end. Ground control had not specified a route for us to use to get to runway 19 nor had they at any time told us to hold short at any point along our route to runway 19. Since we were not going to use the depicted intersection for takeoff and with the hold lines some distance back from the runway, I did not expect to encounter hold lines while taxiing to runway 19. No conflict occurred and nothing was said by ground control as we continued to runway 19 approach end. This is a somewhat unique situation where a taxi route to an active runway does not cross an intervening runway but it does cross hold short lines for, in this case, the active runway. Perhaps the airport diagram cold better depict this situation or a statement by ground control warning us of the situation could be made. Better markings (lights) at hold short lines would certainly help!

Title: ACR MLG TAXIING TO RWY 19 AT SDF TAXIED ACROSS THE RWY HOLD LINE BUT NOT ACROSS THE RWY ENROUTE TO RWY END.
Narrative: FROM THE RAMP ON THE W SIDE OF THE ARPT, WE CALLED GND CTL FOR TAXI CLRNC. WE WERE CLRED TO 'TAXI TO RWY 19.' NO OTHER INSTRUCTIONS WERE ISSUED BY GND CTL. ENRTE TO RWY 19, WE TRANSITTED THE AREA DEPICTED AT R. AFTER MAKING THE 90 DEG L TURN I REALIZED THAT WE HAD XED A HOLD LINE FOR RWY 19 (INTXN). SINCE THE APCH END OF 19, WHERE WE WOULD START TKOF, WAS SOME DISTANCE AWAY, I WAS CONCENTRATING MY ATTN ON THE COCKPIT PREPARATIONS FOR TKOF AS I TAXIED ALONG THE RTE TO RWY 19 APCH END. GND CTL HAD NOT SPECIFIED A RTE FOR US TO USE TO GET TO RWY 19 NOR HAD THEY AT ANY TIME TOLD US TO HOLD SHORT AT ANY POINT ALONG OUR RTE TO RWY 19. SINCE WE WERE NOT GOING TO USE THE DEPICTED INTXN FOR TKOF AND WITH THE HOLD LINES SOME DISTANCE BACK FROM THE RWY, I DID NOT EXPECT TO ENCOUNTER HOLD LINES WHILE TAXIING TO RWY 19. NO CONFLICT OCCURRED AND NOTHING WAS SAID BY GND CTL AS WE CONTINUED TO RWY 19 APCH END. THIS IS A SOMEWHAT UNIQUE SITUATION WHERE A TAXI RTE TO AN ACTIVE RWY DOES NOT CROSS AN INTERVENING RWY BUT IT DOES CROSS HOLD SHORT LINES FOR, IN THIS CASE, THE ACTIVE RWY. PERHAPS THE ARPT DIAGRAM COLD BETTER DEPICT THIS SITUATION OR A STATEMENT BY GND CTL WARNING US OF THE SITUATION COULD BE MADE. BETTER MARKINGS (LIGHTS) AT HOLD SHORT LINES WOULD CERTAINLY HELP!
