Narrative:
We leveled at 11000' on scy arrival to dfw; aircraft was equipped with TCAS. We picked up a target as a 'TA' 2000' altitude at 12 0'clock. It rapidly changed to 1600' the to RA and TCAS directed an aural pull up. As per TCAS procedure, we initiated a climb. At 12000' TCAS reported clear of traffic and we descended back to 11000'. Throughout the maneuver, we were unable to communication with ATC. We never saw the target aircraft as it was behind us after the maneuver.
