Narrative:
Light transport unable to comply with climb to assigned altitude of FL240 as emergency pressure system activated when cabin altitude rose above 8750'. Bleed air noise and heat distracted pilots. Aircraft had to descend to 6000' to sort out problem (bleed air switch needed to be reset). Cabin air switch missed on takeoff checklist, allowing cabin to climb unpressurized. Pilot's should be more familiar with aircraft system. Checklist challenge and response should be adhered to.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: CPR LTT HAD TO STOP CLIMB AND DESCEND TO RESET CABIN PRESSURIZATION CTL.
Narrative: LTT UNABLE TO COMPLY WITH CLB TO ASSIGNED ALT OF FL240 AS EMER PRESSURE SYS ACTIVATED WHEN CABIN ALT ROSE ABOVE 8750'. BLEED AIR NOISE AND HEAT DISTRACTED PLTS. ACFT HAD TO DSND TO 6000' TO SORT OUT PROB (BLEED AIR SWITCH NEEDED TO BE RESET). CABIN AIR SWITCH MISSED ON TKOF CHKLIST, ALLOWING CABIN TO CLB UNPRESSURIZED. PLT'S SHOULD BE MORE FAMILIAR WITH ACFT SYS. CHKLIST CHALLENGE AND RESPONSE SHOULD BE ADHERED TO.
