Narrative:
While executing a runway 24/25 profile descent into lax, we were cleared for a visibility to runway 24R. As the PNF, I had preselected the tower frequency for runway 24R as well as the ILS frequency for runway 24R. While on base leg, my attention was diverted while completing the approach checklist and identing the ILS frequencys it was clearly in my mind that we were cleared to runway 24R. As I checked visly that we were lined up with the runway, approach control informed us that we were lined up on runway 25R. We immediately corrected back over to runway 24R, and were later cleared to land on runway 24L. It only took those few moments while I was finishing the checklist for the captain to line up with the other runway. The lesson learned: be absolutely sure that we both understand the clearance and are working toward the same goal.

Title: CLEARED RWY 24R AT LAX FOR VISUAL APCH FLT CREW OF MLG ALIGNED WITH RWY 25R.
Narrative: WHILE EXECUTING A RWY 24/25 PROFILE DSNT INTO LAX, WE WERE CLRED FOR A VIS TO RWY 24R. AS THE PNF, I HAD PRESELECTED THE TWR FREQ FOR RWY 24R AS WELL AS THE ILS FREQ FOR RWY 24R. WHILE ON BASE LEG, MY ATTN WAS DIVERTED WHILE COMPLETING THE APCH CHKLIST AND IDENTING THE ILS FREQS IT WAS CLRLY IN MY MIND THAT WE WERE CLRED TO RWY 24R. AS I CHKED VISLY THAT WE WERE LINED UP WITH THE RWY, APCH CTL INFORMED US THAT WE WERE LINED UP ON RWY 25R. WE IMMEDIATELY CORRECTED BACK OVER TO RWY 24R, AND WERE LATER CLRED TO LAND ON RWY 24L. IT ONLY TOOK THOSE FEW MOMENTS WHILE I WAS FINISHING THE CHKLIST FOR THE CAPT TO LINE UP WITH THE OTHER RWY. THE LESSON LEARNED: BE ABSOLUTELY SURE THAT WE BOTH UNDERSTAND THE CLRNC AND ARE WORKING TOWARD THE SAME GOAL.
