Narrative:
We were en route from ont to dfw on the acton 2 arrival at dfw. At approximately 20 mi west of acton VOR, a company aircraft called and advised us to change to a new frequency. No one had handed us off. The new controller wanted us to cross hulen at 12000' and 250 KTS. We were at 37000' and attempted to lose the 25000' in 34 mi,but had to inform ATC that we would be unable. They said no problem. We crossed at 15000'/250 KTS and continued the STAR. Just prior to reaching creek ATC informed us to expect ILS 18R. We were hoping for the 17's and changed the approach plates. During this few minute period we missed the turn at creek to 350 degree heading. Approximately 2 mi passed creek, ATC asked hat our heading was and we told him 045 degrees (aqn 040 degree R0. Then then gave us a heading of 340 degrees (I believe) to get us back where he wanted us. He asked if the previous controller had given us some other instructions other than the STAR, and we said no. He then continued to vector us to the final for ILS 18R. The controller didn't indicate that there was a problem.

Title: ATX FRT HVT EXPERIENCES TRACK DEVIATION ON ACTON 2 STAR AT DFW.
Narrative: WE WERE ENRTE FROM ONT TO DFW ON THE ACTON 2 ARR AT DFW. AT APPROX 20 MI W OF ACTON VOR, A COMPANY ACFT CALLED AND ADVISED US TO CHANGE TO A NEW FREQ. NO ONE HAD HANDED US OFF. THE NEW CTLR WANTED US TO CROSS HULEN AT 12000' AND 250 KTS. WE WERE AT 37000' AND ATTEMPTED TO LOSE THE 25000' IN 34 MI,BUT HAD TO INFORM ATC THAT WE WOULD BE UNABLE. THEY SAID NO PROB. WE CROSSED AT 15000'/250 KTS AND CONTINUED THE STAR. JUST PRIOR TO REACHING CREEK ATC INFORMED US TO EXPECT ILS 18R. WE WERE HOPING FOR THE 17'S AND CHANGED THE APCH PLATES. DURING THIS FEW MINUTE PERIOD WE MISSED THE TURN AT CREEK TO 350 DEG HDG. APPROX 2 MI PASSED CREEK, ATC ASKED HAT OUR HDG WAS AND WE TOLD HIM 045 DEGS (AQN 040 DEG R0. THEN THEN GAVE US A HDG OF 340 DEGS (I BELIEVE) TO GET US BACK WHERE HE WANTED US. HE ASKED IF THE PREVIOUS CTLR HAD GIVEN US SOME OTHER INSTRUCTIONS OTHER THAN THE STAR, AND WE SAID NO. HE THEN CONTINUED TO VECTOR US TO THE FINAL FOR ILS 18R. THE CTLR DIDN'T INDICATE THAT THERE WAS A PROB.
