Narrative:
While flying IFR from 09G to fty at 10000', my aircraft lost manifold pressure, slowly. I asked ATC (ZID) for the location of the nearest airport, as I was losing manifold pressure. ZID gave ZTL frequency and told me they had my request. ZTL told me crossville was the airport, since the manifold pressure was dropping taster. Shortly after that the engine made a dull thud noise and completely stopped. I had to make an off airport landing as I didn't have enough altitude make the crossville airport. There were no injuries, minimal property damage (landed in a field). The aircraft suffered some damage. The aircraft is an small aircraft with 700 hour engine. At the time of the incident I did not have a current medical.

Narrative: WHILE FLYING IFR FROM 09G TO FTY AT 10000', MY ACFT LOST MANIFOLD PRESSURE, SLOWLY. I ASKED ATC (ZID) FOR THE LOCATION OF THE NEAREST ARPT, AS I WAS LOSING MANIFOLD PRESSURE. ZID GAVE ZTL FREQ AND TOLD ME THEY HAD MY REQUEST. ZTL TOLD ME CROSSVILLE WAS THE ARPT, SINCE THE MANIFOLD PRESSURE WAS DROPPING TASTER. SHORTLY AFTER THAT THE ENG MADE A DULL THUD NOISE AND COMPLETELY STOPPED. I HAD TO MAKE AN OFF ARPT LNDG AS I DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH ALT MAKE THE CROSSVILLE ARPT.
