Narrative:
My aircraft engine started having a loss of power at 1000 ft. AGL I was too far from the airport for what I considered a safe return. I circled a remote road twice planning on how I would accomplish an off field landing with partial power. I executed a safe landing on the road and on rollout a mailbox contacted the left forward strut and dented the strut and a slight dent in the wrap around cowling. I then taxied up the driveway and parked in the grass to tie down the aircraft. I returned the next day and disassembled the aircraft and returned it to its hangar at ZZZ.
