Narrative:
I am an ATP with a type rating in a cpr light transport jet. We operate under corp part 91. The day of this flight I was not aware of the far's on the following subject I plan to investigate them in the next few days. I gave part of a copilot chkout in the light transport jet. I had the copilot do 2 takeoffs and 2 lndgs. The other captain I fly with completed the chkout at a later flight and I was not on board. During my flight with this new jet copilot (ATP multi engine rating), I also had an FAA approved avionics technician onboard who is a pilot, but he was on official work time and on board to solely do an FAA check (required) on our newly installed cockpit voice recorded (cvr). Is he legal to be on board during my chkout of this new copilot?? Also, am I legal to give a chkout in this jet under part 91?? I am not a CFI, but I hold an ATP and type rating for this jet. I inadvertently gave part of a chkout west/O consulting the far's and allowed this tech to do his required FAA check. I did not know if this was legal at the time of the flight.
