Narrative:
This was a first flight lesson for a new student, during which I typically point out some key VFR landmarks and TCA identify points. Alpine tower is one, on the west side of the hudson river, north of teb and several mi south of tappan zee bridge. The TCA floor is 3000' MSL north of alpine tower, and if over the river, 1500', though it steps up to 1800' over nj (the land). 10 mi or so to the south, at the george washington bridge, the base of the TCA dips to 1100'. The finger of airspace between the george washington bridge and the alpine tower is like a highway speed trap for FAA if they choose to make it so, and incursions there are frequent. I instructed the student to descend prior to reaching the alpine tower, flying west to east, out of 1700'. Upon reaching a position 1-2 mi south of alpine tower, student was still at 1650', though descending over the river. He was told to hasten his descent, which he did, and admonished to be aware of that little corner of the TCA. There was no known traffic conflict, and on indication that anything was amiss. Upon landing at cdw, tower advised that ny approach desired a phone call, reason unknown. The phone call was not returned.

Title: INSTRUCTOR AND STUDENT PENETRATED NY TCA.
Narrative: THIS WAS A FIRST FLT LESSON FOR A NEW STUDENT, DURING WHICH I TYPICALLY POINT OUT SOME KEY VFR LANDMARKS AND TCA IDENT POINTS. ALPINE TWR IS ONE, ON THE W SIDE OF THE HUDSON RIVER, N OF TEB AND SEVERAL MI S OF TAPPAN ZEE BRIDGE. THE TCA FLOOR IS 3000' MSL N OF ALPINE TWR, AND IF OVER THE RIVER, 1500', THOUGH IT STEPS UP TO 1800' OVER NJ (THE LAND). 10 MI OR SO TO THE S, AT THE GEORGE WASHINGTON BRIDGE, THE BASE OF THE TCA DIPS TO 1100'. THE FINGER OF AIRSPACE BTWN THE GEORGE WASHINGTON BRIDGE AND THE ALPINE TWR IS LIKE A HWY SPD TRAP FOR FAA IF THEY CHOOSE TO MAKE IT SO, AND INCURSIONS THERE ARE FREQUENT. I INSTRUCTED THE STUDENT TO DSND PRIOR TO REACHING THE ALPINE TWR, FLYING W TO E, OUT OF 1700'. UPON REACHING A POS 1-2 MI S OF ALPINE TWR, STUDENT WAS STILL AT 1650', THOUGH DSNDING OVER THE RIVER. HE WAS TOLD TO HASTEN HIS DSNT, WHICH HE DID, AND ADMONISHED TO BE AWARE OF THAT LITTLE CORNER OF THE TCA. THERE WAS NO KNOWN TFC CONFLICT, AND ON INDICATION THAT ANYTHING WAS AMISS. UPON LNDG AT CDW, TWR ADVISED THAT NY APCH DESIRED A PHONE CALL, REASON UNKNOWN. THE PHONE CALL WAS NOT RETURNED.
