Narrative:
I was flying the cpr light transport X jet from the left seat by reference to instruments on an ATP type rating check flight. Passing the OM inbound, I was approximately 400' below the glide path due to a misinterp of EFIS presentation. The captain/examiner was in the right seat making the radio calls. About 1/2 mi inside the OM the tower controller asked if we had the small transport Y in sight at 2 O'clock, 1 mi, westbound. The captain replied, 'negative.' a couple of seconds later tower asked the small transport Y if he had us (light transport X) in sight. He replied, 'yeah, we've got him.' at that time tower issued a low altitude alert to us and requested that we initiate an immediate climb. I did so. The captain reported that the small transport Y took no evasive action and passed 150' below us. After passing below us the small transport Y captain reported to the tower that, 'that looked awful close.' I recommend that lgb control tower not transit aircraft through the ILS approach zone when aircraft are on the ILS approach. I recommend also that pilots be reminded that when they discover that they are going to be 'awful close,' they take evasive action immediately. My captain did not see the small transport Y in time to take evasive action. Had the tower not instructed us to pull up immediately, I may not have been hear to write this report.

Title: CPR LTT X PLT ON CHECK RIDE FINDS HIMSELF 400' LOW AT THE OM, AND IN CONFLICT WITH SMT Y.
Narrative: I WAS FLYING THE CPR LTT X JET FROM THE LEFT SEAT BY REF TO INSTRUMENTS ON AN ATP TYPE RATING CHK FLT. PASSING THE OM INBND, I WAS APPROX 400' BELOW THE GLIDE PATH DUE TO A MISINTERP OF EFIS PRESENTATION. THE CAPT/EXAMINER WAS IN THE RIGHT SEAT MAKING THE RADIO CALLS. ABOUT 1/2 MI INSIDE THE OM THE TWR CTLR ASKED IF WE HAD THE SMT Y IN SIGHT AT 2 O'CLOCK, 1 MI, WBND. THE CAPT REPLIED, 'NEGATIVE.' A COUPLE OF SECS LATER TWR ASKED THE SMT Y IF HE HAD US (LTT X) IN SIGHT. HE REPLIED, 'YEAH, WE'VE GOT HIM.' AT THAT TIME TWR ISSUED A LOW ALT ALERT TO US AND REQUESTED THAT WE INITIATE AN IMMEDIATE CLB. I DID SO. THE CAPT RPTED THAT THE SMT Y TOOK NO EVASIVE ACTION AND PASSED 150' BELOW US. AFTER PASSING BELOW US THE SMT Y CAPT RPTED TO THE TWR THAT, 'THAT LOOKED AWFUL CLOSE.' I RECOMMEND THAT LGB CTL TWR NOT TRANSIT ACFT THROUGH THE ILS APCH ZONE WHEN ACFT ARE ON THE ILS APCH. I RECOMMEND ALSO THAT PLTS BE REMINDED THAT WHEN THEY DISCOVER THAT THEY ARE GOING TO BE 'AWFUL CLOSE,' THEY TAKE EVASIVE ACTION IMMEDIATELY. MY CAPT DID NOT SEE THE SMT Y IN TIME TO TAKE EVASIVE ACTION. HAD THE TWR NOT INSTRUCTED US TO PULL UP IMMEDIATELY, I MAY NOT HAVE BEEN HEAR TO WRITE THIS RPT.
