Narrative:
After obtaining a WX briefing the night before for a flight to longmont airport from aurora airpark in a vintage small transport taildragger, I was informed that an aerobatic contest would begin at xx:00 the next day. However, the airport would not be closed. No mention was made of changes to the traffic pattern. However, I did not ask for NOTAMS. Next morning WX was cavu and winds were light. The flight to longmont went normally. Approaching longmont, I checked for other traffic and checked the segmented circle to see if traffic was left-hand, and left traffic was indicated. I made a midfield crosswind entry to the pattern. I then noticed an aircraft doing aerobatics about 1000' above and 1/8-1/4 mi to the right. There was no close conflict, and I made a tight left pattern and landed, at which pint I found out that I had almost flown through the aerobatic box. My aircraft has no radio, so I did not receive a field advisory. For events such as these, where the pattern has been changed, a temporary modification of the segmented circle would be helpful. Also, although I should have asked for NOTAMS, it would have been helpful for the FSS briefed to volunteer the NOTAM on the temporary pattern change during the WX brief the night before.

Narrative: AFTER OBTAINING A WX BRIEFING THE NIGHT BEFORE FOR A FLT TO LONGMONT ARPT FROM AURORA AIRPARK IN A VINTAGE SMT TAILDRAGGER, I WAS INFORMED THAT AN AEROBATIC CONTEST WOULD BEGIN AT XX:00 THE NEXT DAY. HOWEVER, THE ARPT WOULD NOT BE CLOSED. NO MENTION WAS MADE OF CHANGES TO THE TFC PATTERN. HOWEVER, I DID NOT ASK FOR NOTAMS. NEXT MORNING WX WAS CAVU AND WINDS WERE LIGHT. THE FLT TO LONGMONT WENT NORMALLY. APCHING LONGMONT, I CHKED FOR OTHER TFC AND CHKED THE SEGMENTED CIRCLE TO SEE IF TFC WAS LEFT-HAND, AND LEFT TFC WAS INDICATED. I MADE A MIDFIELD XWIND ENTRY TO THE PATTERN. I THEN NOTICED AN ACFT DOING AEROBATICS ABOUT 1000' ABOVE AND 1/8-1/4 MI TO THE RIGHT. THERE WAS NO CLOSE CONFLICT, AND I MADE A TIGHT LEFT PATTERN AND LANDED, AT WHICH PINT I FOUND OUT THAT I HAD ALMOST FLOWN THROUGH THE AEROBATIC BOX. MY ACFT HAS NO RADIO, SO I DID NOT RECEIVE A FIELD ADVISORY.
