Narrative:

My student and I began a 500 FPM descent toward sfb for a landing. Our heading was approximately 240 degrees, and upon reaching 2000' had contact with another small aircraft Y heading 270 degrees to our left at same altitude. Evasive action had to be immediate and was full nose down to avoid impact with other aircraft. Other aircraft was recognized by me, due to aircraft # and markings. Other aircraft also on training flight. Contributing factors: 1) during training flts, sometimes you find your head in the cockpit more in order to watch the student. His head also prevented me from seeing aircraft sooner. 2) other aircraft was using local ATC for approachs. His heading and altitude were normal with that of vectors to sfb ILS 9. I confirmed this with other pilot after landing. When using ATC, it is easy to rely on them for traffic advisories. Other pilot DOD not receive advisories about conflict.

Title: NMAC BETWEEN 2 TRAINING SMA TWINS NEAR SFB.

Narrative: MY STUDENT AND I BEGAN A 500 FPM DSNT TOWARD SFB FOR A LNDG. OUR HDG WAS APPROX 240 DEGS, AND UPON REACHING 2000' HAD CONTACT WITH ANOTHER SMA Y HDG 270 DEGS TO OUR LEFT AT SAME ALT. EVASIVE ACTION HAD TO BE IMMEDIATE AND WAS FULL NOSE DOWN TO AVOID IMPACT WITH OTHER ACFT. OTHER ACFT WAS RECOGNIZED BY ME, DUE TO ACFT # AND MARKINGS. OTHER ACFT ALSO ON TRNING FLT. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: 1) DURING TRNING FLTS, SOMETIMES YOU FIND YOUR HEAD IN THE COCKPIT MORE IN ORDER TO WATCH THE STUDENT. HIS HEAD ALSO PREVENTED ME FROM SEEING ACFT SOONER. 2) OTHER ACFT WAS USING LCL ATC FOR APCHS. HIS HDG AND ALT WERE NORMAL WITH THAT OF VECTORS TO SFB ILS 9. I CONFIRMED THIS WITH OTHER PLT AFTER LNDG. WHEN USING ATC, IT IS EASY TO RELY ON THEM FOR TFC ADVISORIES. OTHER PLT DOD NOT RECEIVE ADVISORIES ABOUT CONFLICT.
