Narrative:
Approaching dfw on scurry arrival, 210 KTS, the TCAS issued right/a instructing to descend. We descended 350 ft at that time the TCAS instructed to climb back to level flight as traffic was clear. We reported descent to dfw approach control. They advised that was climbing through our altitude VFR. We questioned the controller about not being advised of the traffic. He said that by the time was handed off to departure and the information relayed to him there was no time. Passed at our 6 O'clock position about 1/2 mi.
